An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and dynamic Head of Business to lead a thriving and forward-thinking department within an Ofsted Outstanding secondary school in Nottingham. This full-time, permanent role offers the chance to shape the Business curriculum and drive exceptional student outcomes across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

About the Business Department

The Business Department plays a pivotal role in the school’s curriculum, consistently achieving excellent results at GCSE and A-Level. The team is motivated, innovative, and dedicated to inspiring students to develop entrepreneurial skills, commercial understanding, and real-world business applications. The department enjoys excellent resources, including well-equipped classrooms and access to digital learning platforms.

Role Overview

As Head of Business, you will:

Lead and manage the Business Department, overseeing curriculum development and delivery from KS4 to KS5

*

Inspire and support a team of teachers to deliver outstanding teaching and learning

*

Monitor and improve student progress and attainment across all key stages

*

Foster a culture of innovation, engagement, and high expectations

*

Take responsibility for departmental budgets, resources, and extra-curricular business activities

*

Collaborate with senior leadership to contribute to whole-school initiatives and development

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

*

A degree in Business, Economics, or a related subject

*

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or PGCE)

*

Proven experience teaching Business Studies at GCSE and A-Level

*

Demonstrated leadership skills, ideally with experience managing a department or team

*

A passion for inspiring students and a commitment to raising achievement

*

Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

*

A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for contributing to wider school life

Salary and Benefits

The salary will be paid in line with the Main or Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS) plus a Leadership TLR allowance, reflective of the responsibility of this leadership role.
