* Contract type: Fixed‑term, Part‑time (21 hrs/week)

* Salary: £27,600 – 46,500 (pro‑rata, depending on skills, knowledge and experience)
* Working hours: 21 hrs per week; flexible working available and will be discussed at offer stage
* Relationship with BBC Extend programme: part of the BBC Extend launch for disabled people (Ciorram, Deaf, Neurodivergent)
About BBC Extend
This role is advertised as part of the BBC Extend programme for disabled people. Eligibility is determined by the definition of disability under the Equality Act (2010) or the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) if applying in Northern Ireland. Conditions include physical or mental impairments that have a substantial and long‑term negative effect on daily activities, including both apparent and non‑apparent conditions, and medical conditions such as Cancer, HIV or Multiple Sclerosis.

Key Duties
* Report on digital, radio and television services, including Gaelic news online, on social media, radio and television.
* Work with the seven‑day‑a‑week Scottish Gaelic news service, contributing stories for programmes such as Aithris na Maidne & Aithris an Fheasgair and An Là.
* Research and develop news stories, ensuring compelling narrative structure.
* Write and deliver stories in Gaelic, maintaining high standards of accuracy and clarity.
* Collaborate with a team, learning new skills and adapting to flexible working arrangements, including evenings and weekends as required by the service.
Qualifications and Core Skills
* Excellent Gaelic language skills, both spoken and written.
* Strong research abilities, with a knowledge of local, national and international news.
* Creative and effective storytelling, capable of preparing and delivering engaging content.
* Team player with a willingness to learn new skills and work flexibly.
* Familiarity with technical aspects of broadcasting and digital media.
* Experience working on Gaelic news programmes is highly desirable.
