We’re looking for a Concept Artist to join our award winning team in Middlesbrough (UK), home to the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and countryside. As a Concept Artist at Double Eleven, you’ll play a crucial role in the visual development of our creative projects. Working within the team, you'll communicate your passion for games through visually compelling artwork and collaborate closely with the directors to transform concepts into stunning visuals that convey the mood and tone. Your primary focus will be designing believable characters and props that enrich our worlds. From initial sketches to polished digital Artwork, your work will help shape the visual identity and aesthetic of the project. What you’ll be doing Create concept art for characters, creatures, environments and props Work closely with our Art director and other teams to experiment, explore and develop a multitude of concepts of varying complexity Collaborate effectively in a team environment by providing feedback and support to other team members Create clear and inspiring character and creature designs, with a keen eye for storytelling that are suitable for 3D production Support the development of complex environments by providing stunning environment concept designs and paintovers Iterate on concepts based on feedback and written briefs Create sketches, thumbnails, and design explorations Develop mood boards and visual references to support design decisions Use software tools like Adobe Photoshop, and 3D modelling software programs What we’re looking for Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, take on feedback constructively, and iterate quickly and effectively A strong portfolio demonstrating character, creature and prop concept art Creative problem-solving mindset, using design thinking to generate ideas and overcome challenges, particularly when translating concepts from 2D into 3D Ability to communicate ideas quickly through sketches and thumbnails, and present concepts to a high standard Adaptable and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to pivot creatively in response to changing project needs or technical constraints Solid understanding of anatomy, shape language and composition Positive and approachable team presence, contributing to a supportive environment and working flexibly with cross-disciplinary teams, including close collaboration with 3D artists and designers Proactive approach to creating mood boards and reference sheets Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and 3D software (Blender, Maya, or similar), with a strong understanding of how concept art supports asset creation for production Self-sufficient and proactive work style, with the ability to manage your time effectively, clearly articulate creative decisions, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous development Qualifications All relevant qualifications considered What to expect Working life at Double Eleven Start your day any time between 8:00am and 10:00am 35 working hours per week with a 1 hour lunch break (with the opportunity to flex down to 30 minutes or up to 2 hours) Opportunity to apply for hybrid working (up to 2 days working from home per week) 28 days annual leave (20 days annual leave 8 days bank holiday) 1 day leave for your birthday and 1 day leave if you’re moving house Up to 10 days discretionary annual leave during our end of year break A brand new, state-of-the-art studio facilities that includes a market hall serving nutritious, subsidised meals, round-the-clock gym access, an auditorium and more Subsidised market hall with food, freshly prepared daily by our in-house hospitality team Free breakfast options, juice, hot drinks and fruit.
