About The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and resourceful Backend Python Engineers at mid to senior levels to join our innovative team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on full-stack cloud applications that are pivotal to our energy solutions. As a key member of the backend engineering team, you will utilize your expertise in Python and AWS Cloud services to develop scalable, efficient, and secure applications. The position is initially a five-month contract, with the potential for extension based on project needs and performance. It is a hybrid role, requiring one day per week in our London office, with the rest of the work conducted remotely. This full-time position involves 40 hours per week, providing a balanced work environment that promotes collaboration and flexibility.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated expertise as a Mid or Senior Software Engineer. Proficiency in Python is essential, with a willingness to adapt to our specific tech stack. Experience with RESTful APIs and GraphQL is highly desirable. Candidates should be familiar with version control tools such as Git and adhere to development best practices, including pair programming and Test-Driven Development (TDD). Strong problem-solving skills, software design capabilities, and debugging expertise are crucial. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate eagerness to engage with emerging technologies and collaborate effectively within a team. Excellent communication skills are necessary to facilitate smooth teamwork and innovative solution design.
Responsibilities
* Play a pivotal role in the backend engineering team, helping to build robust full-stack cloud applications that support our energy solutions.
* Utilize Python and AWS Cloud services to develop, test, and deploy backend functionalities.
* Adopt a server-less first approach to application design, ensuring scalable and cost-effective solutions.
* Collaborate within an agile team environment alongside backend engineers, product designers, and other stakeholders to strategize and implement new features and experiments.
* Engage in collaborative coding practices such as pair programming and thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality standards.
* Contribute to resolving complexities inherent in large-scale systems and extensive datasets, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
* Work closely with Product, Data, Front-end, Platform, and Security teams to deliver integrated and secure solutions.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including code refactoring, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
