Drainage Engineer – AtkinsRéalis
Overview
At AtkinsRéalis, we design infrastructure and engineer a better future. As part of the Networks & Drainage Solutions team, you will deliver sustainable, resilient civil engineering solutions that support communities and protect the environment.
Your role
* Lead the design of drainage, wastewater and surface water management systems across a range of infrastructure and development projects.
* Prepare and check technical reports, drawings and specifications to current standards and best practice.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on major UK infrastructure programmes such as Sizewell C, Lower Thames Crossing, the national rail portfolio and initiatives to reduce Combined Sewer Overflow discharges.
* Contribute to integrated water‑management strategies prioritising climate resilience, sustainability and community protection in the UK and internationally.
* Apply digital tools and data‑driven approaches to improve design efficiency and project outcomes.
* Support socially‑impactful initiatives such as EDAROTH, delivering sustainable infrastructure and housing for underserved communities.
About you
* Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline with experience in drainage or water infrastructure.
* Familiarity with industry standards, BIM and design tools such as Causeway Flow, InfoWorks ICM, Civil 3D or MicroStation.
* Commercial awareness to support win activities nationally and internationally.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work independently and engage clients and stakeholders.
* Proactive learner, ideally working toward Incorporated or Chartered status (ICE or CIWEM) and willing to mentor junior colleagues.
