Western Sussex Bowel Cancer Screening Programme currently has an opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join our busy and evolving team. We are seeking a reliable, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude to work as part of the Administration Team.
Ideally, the candidate would have an interest in the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and understand that judgments/assessments on pathways may be complex due to the diverse issues regarding our patients. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop into the role, with a passion for maintaining high standards, which the programme is renowned for.
The post holder will undergo an induction covering all aspects of the role, including knowledge of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, the National Computerised Open Exeter system (BCSS), and how to integrate this information with the Trust’s PAS system (CAREFLOW/BLUESPIER). Accurate transfer of information between national and hospital databases is essential to ensure smooth delivery of notes and relevant BCSP information for pre-assessment clinics and elective admissions.
This position involves significant verbal contact with the public over the telephone. Therefore, the post holder must be confident in their knowledge of the screening programme and able to make decisions that are accurate and reliable.
The Post Holder will ensure patients are scheduled according to government guidelines. Attention to detail is crucial, as all information must be transcribed exactly according to instructions and within deadlines. The post holder should also escalate to staff if interpreter services are required before SSP appointments.
