Overview

This post provides an exciting opportunity to join a developing Neuropsychology service, with a specific focus on facilitating strategic development, structure and leadership of Neuropsychology provision within hospital outpatient services. The post requires extensive experience in developing Neuropsychology provision within outpatient Neurosciences settings, and excellent skills in consultation, multi-disciplinary working, and staff development.

The outpatient work will cover a wide range of neurological and neurosurgical presentations, including MS, acquired brain injury, brain tumours, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions, as well as functional neurological disorders.


Responsibilities

* Provide joint leadership and supervision to staff within the wider Neuropsychology service, and support oversight of inpatient services in the absence of the existing Consultant.
* Lead for the strategic development, leadership and management of outpatient Neurosciences services supported by the Neuropsychology service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
* Support inpatient Neuropsychology services when required, with reciprocal expectations from the existing consultant.
* Ensure delivery of high quality patient care and experience in line with the Trust’s strategic objectives.
* Provide managerial support and professional leadership to other members of the Psychology team working across a range of Physical Health specialities, as directed by the Head of Service.
* Oversee provision of teaching and training for psychologists and non-psychologists across the service; provide expert advice, clinical supervision and training to less experienced colleagues.
* Offer specialist consultation, supervision and training to a range of other professions and services to enable the delivery of psychologically- and neuropsychologically-informed interventions.
* Undertake and oversee the delivery of specialist teaching, training, supervision and communication skills work within the speciality and wider service; ensure quality of this aspect of professional practice in collaboration with key stakeholders and the Head of Psychology Services.
* Undertake and oversee the delivery of audits and research & development as required within the speciality; ensure quality of this aspect of professional practice within the service in collaboration with key stakeholders.
* Work flexibly and responsively to the demands of a dynamic and evolving service, adapting to change within the profession, speciality, wider service and organisation.


Experience and Qualifications

Requirements: Consultant level post requiring a range of key clinical and professional skills and extensive specialist clinical experience in Neuropsychology and broader physical health outpatient settings. The post holder will work alongside the existing consultant clinical psychologist within Neuropsychology, taking a lead for the strategic development, leadership and management of outpatient Neurosciences services. They will also support inpatient Neuropsychology services when required, with a reciprocal expectation from the existing consultant. They will ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and experience in line with the Trust’s strategic objectives. Research and Development: To undertake and oversee audits and research & development as required within the speciality, ensuring quality in collaboration with key stakeholders.
