Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Gastroenterologist at Eastbourne District General Hospital. The successful candidate will lead specific duties as part of developing a multidisciplinary approach to care within the specialty.
The ideal candidate should have a special interest in Gastroenterology and will join a department that has expanded its staffing with full-time consultants, with further growth planned. Sub-specialization is encouraged, with interests such as advanced endoscopy, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, or hepatology being desirable. The department is working towards a 7-day service in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, and the new appointee will contribute to this initiative.
The appointee may need to cover endoscopy lists and clinics at other sites and may undertake duties at other hospital locations managed by the Trust (e.g., Bexhill, Uckfield, Rye).
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be managerially and professionally accountable to the Clinical Unit Lead. A formal job plan will be agreed within one month of appointment, detailing programmed activities. The post-holder will also provide cross-cover for essential services during colleagues' leave.
