Offer description

Job Description We are looking for a registered Occupational Therapist to join us in the Housing Service on a permanent part time contract, 18.12 hours per week. These hours can generally be worked either as 2.5 days per week or 2 days one week and 3 the next. This Peripatetic Housing Occupational Therapist role is one of two peripatetic OT posts within a small team of 5 part time Occupational Therapists who collectively cover 4 geographical areas, North, East, Central and South. When demand for assessments is at a peak for our Housing Improvement Programme (HIP2), 4 members of the team focus on a geographical area each. For HIP2 assessments, this post will be more focused on the Central area. However, the whole team, and especially the peripatetic OTs are also flexible in terms of the location of the cases they are involved in, dependant on the demands of the case load and the resources within the team. You will assess, advise, and provide a range of OT services designed to optimise occupational performance within Council housing and the wider community. The role involves undertaking face-to-face client assessments when necessary. You will undertake Assessments for potential adaptations to ensure that the particular needs of council tenants are fully considered when housing is allocated and upgraded, for example, assess the needs of tenants in relation to bathroom, kitchen, access, and heating upgrades and liaise with colleagues on adaptations. be involved in decisions on decants and the assistance package offered to qualifying tenants and with the ordering of equipment for decant properties. undertake Housing Needs Assessments, Pre-Allocation Assessments and advise on new build projects. An awareness of building design and structure with the ability to understand building layout design drawings would be advantageous but knowledge can be gained on the job and training provided. The administrative location for this post is in the Fleet Repair Depot in Inverurie, within our Central area. However, all the Housing Occupational Therapists work from home as their base. The council has a ‘hybrid’ approach to working that favours home working over working from an office location, but you will attend some face-to-face team meetings/training in offices and ‘hot desks’ can also be booked at various Aberdeenshire Council office locations. We meet and communicate regularly using MS Teams. We are a small, experienced team of professionals who will take great care in integrating a new member into our numbers. We know that you may be wanting to move into the exciting role of ‘Housing OT’ for the first time or are maybe newly qualified or even considering returning to practice. You will find the team to be friendly and approachable and dedicated to making sure you have all the support you need to thrive in your new job. We have a full induction package to help you settle in and our processes are all well documented and structured. For further information about this exciting opportunity please read the full Job Profile. Requirements There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service, tenants, and the organisation. Informal enquiries: please email housingots@aberdeenshire.gov.uk and a member of the Housing OT Team will call you back for a chat just as soon as they can OR call Gary Lock, Housing Occupational Therapist Line Manager - 01467 534260.
