Prime Workforce are partnered with an exciting engineering business who are in the market for a Finance Manager.
As Finance Manager, you will naturally be commercially minded; thriving on ownership, structure, and strategic impact. Our client is looking for an experienced individual to take the lead on their entire internal finance function not just managing the books, but helping to drive the next phase of growth.
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a pivotal role; work closely with senior management, shape financial processes, and provide insights that influence decision-making at the highest level.
Your Role Will Include:
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare monthly management accounts with full reconciliations and analysis
Improve and maintain internal financial controls and reporting processes
Manage cash flow forecasts, P&L, and balance sheet accuracy
Analyse variances, monitor costs, and track departmental performance
Support year-end processes, audits, and external accountant liaison
Budgeting & Strategic Support
Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles
Develop financial models and scenario planning tools
Identify risks, opportunities, and strategic levers for growth
Contribute to funding, grant, and R&D submissions where relevant
Credit & Cash Control
Oversee accounts receivable/payable
Enforce credit policies and improve debtor recovery
Optimise working capital and payment cycles
Compliance & Systems
Ensure timely VAT, payroll, and HMRC submissions
Maintain accurate, compliant financial records
Champion automation and system improvements (Xero, Sage, etc.)
What Were Looking For:
Proven experience as a financial controller, finance manager, or senior accountant
Strong technical understanding of accounting standards and tax compliance
Proficiency in financial software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Excel)
Commercially savvy able to link financials to business performance
Professionally qualified (AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
Desirable:
Experience in an SME or fast-growing business
Knowledge of cost accounting, stock/inventory systems, or project-based finance
A process improver who can build structure from the ground up
