The successful applicant will be an NHS employee and may therefore have contact with vulnerable service users. Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to work in our Minor Injuries Unit within St Austell Community Hospital.

This is a Band 6 post, and we would be delighted to interview practitioners who are able to work in an advanced practice role which includes minor injuries, minor illness and paediatrics at Band 6 level. This role will working alongside a Band 6 or 5 team member and a Band 3 Health Care Assistant.

A passion for minor injury care, good communication skills, and a commitment to work in an MIU team delivering high quality care are all essential. You must be responsive to change, flexible in your approach and have a sound knowledge of professional issues.

The MIU currently operates from 8am - 8pm covering a 7-day service and is committed to delivering high quality care to the local population, which exhibits a marked increase in patient-attendance during the holiday period.

Main duties of the job

* To deliver, without supervision, effective assessment and treatment of patients utilising evidence based approach. Responsible for the care needs, the management of treatment and evaluation of clinical interventions, reflecting the needs of patients attending this Unit.
* Responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care in unit

Were an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve peoples physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

Approximately 568,000 people live her. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.

Knowledge and Abilities Essential criteria

* Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
* Knowledge and application of workforce planning, supervision and appraisals
* Confident in working automonously and delivery high quality care

Education and Experience Essential criteria

* Current professional registration - NMC
* Post graduate specialist training to degree level, which must incorporate minor illness
* Mentoring qualification or being willing to work towards this qualification

Desirable criteria

* Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
