We are on a journey to create market leading customer experiences for our guests. The George Inn Oakham sits at the heart of a historic market town in the delightful rural county of Rutland. A former 17 th Century coaching inn, it offers characterful surroundings,20 individual bedrooms, parlour, bar, dining room, 30+ person function room and a delightful courtyard garden. With plans for a boutique cinema and spa to be completed before the end of 2025, there are unlimited opportunities to offer a unique stay for both business and leisure travellers. In addition, the business now operates, The Lord Nelson which is located next door to the Inn and is a similar style 17 th century building. It was originally a private home which became a fine dining restaurant with rooms and more recently a pub serving food. We have now created a public ‘house’ which we want the community to use as though it was their own home; with the ability to meet, eat, drink, relax and play in the various themed rooms and garden which are available across this substantial property. The vision of the owner and management sees substantial opportunity for growth and engagement with both a local and far-reaching audience to create a strong and dynamic hospitality business for the future.
We now seek to appoint an individual who can add value to both the business and broader team.Bringing sales and marketing focus will help to unlock the opportunities that undoubtedly exist, in growing occupancy, business meetings, group use of both properties, and generally raising the profile of the businesses. This is a both a strategic and hands-on role, working as part of a dynamic and flexible owner/management team.
The Role
Every day will be different, but you’ll mostly be:
* Leading the development and execution of sales and marketing plans to achieve revenue targets and business objectives.
* Collaborate with colleagues and external creative agencies, where appropriate, to create compelling promotional materials, including brochures, advertisements and digital content.
* Manage social media channels and online presence, creating content to engage with followers, drive traffic to our website and increase bookings.
* Conduct market research and analyse industry trends to identify new opportunities for growth and differentiation.
* Support the management team with lead generation, client outreach and any contract negotiations.
* Coordinate and attend sales meetings, conferences and networking events to promote and build relationships with potential clients.
* Track and report on key performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
What do we need from you?
* Ideally, but not essential, a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
* At least 3 - 5 years of experience in sales, marketing or hospitality.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with marketing software e.g., Mailchimp, Google Analytics, social media platforms.
* Creative mindset with an eye for detail.
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
* Passion for the hospitality industry and customer service.
Remuneration:
This role is offered as potentially part-time or full-time role, depending on the candidates experience and character. However, we are prepared to be flexible on working hours, as well as mix of home and office working to suit the right individual.
The role is located in Oakham, with the individual needing to immerse themselves in the business on a day-to-day basis to understand and maximise the opportunities available.
Salary - commensurate with experience.
