Our national digital, tech and data team is growing. We represent FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 clients, public sector organisations, educational institutions and industry bodies on high-profile projects and regulatory matters. The team collaborates with our US colleagues on international transactions and, as a Lex Mundi member firm, works with other members on international projects. We are looking for a 3+ to senior PQE lawyer to join the team in either our Southampton or Newcastle office.
Responsibilities
You will:
* Advise on complex and high-profile technology transactions, digital transformation projects, data protection and cyber security, and the use of new technologies such as generative AI.
* Work with developers and suppliers of new products and services; collaborate with our commercial and national sector teams to help businesses adopt and implement digital technologies.
* Be involved in all aspects of transactions and projects including contract strategy, data protection, regulatory matters and risk management.
* Help grow multi-jurisdictional projects and support expansion into new markets (e.g., USA and Saudi Arabia); opportunities for international secondments.
Ideal candidate
We are looking for a lawyer with 3+ years post-qualification experience in digital, tech and/or data protection, ideally gained at a City or large regional firm or in-house. You should have excellent drafting and communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for the practice area.
Minimum requirements:
* At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in the digital technology space as a UK solicitor.
* Demonstrated experience in a commercial environment, focused on Digital/Tech and/or Data protection, from a city or large regional firm or in-house position.
* Expertise in complex transactions, including digital transformation, software licensing, IT services, data protection and cybersecurity, and use of new technologies such as generative AI.
* Ability to analyse contracts and articulate key issues and solutions.
