Warwick Sport is looking for a Swim Co‑ordinator to help lead our Learn 2 Swim programme – a thriving 7‑day operation that teaches children aged 4‑14, teenagers, and adults to swim with confidence.

It is a hands‑on role for someone who loves teaching but is ready to step up. You will deliver high‑quality lessons, oversee the shape and success of the programme, line‑manage a team of swim teachers, mentor them through observations and feedback, and play a key part in their development.

Responsibilities

* Planning and delivering swimming lessons aligned with the Swim England National Plan, for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
* Leading a team of swim teachers – inducting new starters, mentoring existing staff, managing 1‑2‑1s, PDRs, sickness, and annual leave.
* Overseeing the structure, attainment, and progress of swimmers in your sessions.
* Setting up new swimmers on the system, tracking progress, and liaising with parents on everything from development milestones to SEND conversations.
* Working with the membership team to follow up on non‑payers and supporting retention across the programme.
* Keeping the swim resource inbox, tablets, and lesson plans up to date.
* Helping with set‑up and pack‑down, and contributing to a safe pool environment alongside the wider Operations team.
* Delivering staff training roughly every two months, and attending your own regular training.

Qualifications

Essential:

* A full UK‑recognised Level 2 Teaching Qualification (STA or Swim England).
* Experience working with children in a learning environment.
* A proven track record within a swimming programme.
* Experience working as part of a team.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Confidence using tablet‑based assessment technology.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and the Swim England assessment criteria.
* An understanding of equality and diversity.
* Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to use your own initiative.

Desirable:

* Level 2 covering all stages of the Swim England Award Scheme (SEQ Level 2 or STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming).
* Additional CPD (Coaching Swimming, Water Polo, Ducklings, Adult and Child, etc.).
* A relevant safeguarding qualification.Experience teaching swimmers with additional needs.
* Experience in a busy leisure environment, or leading children's physical activity / Learn to Swim programmes.

Benefits

* An attractive pension scheme.
* 26 days holiday plus University Christmas closure.
* Generous parental/adoption leave policy.
* Onsite childcare facilities.
* Excellent learning and development opportunities.
* Flexible working arrangements.
* Living Wage employer.

Equal Opportunities and Diversity

Warwick is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and respectful community where everyone can thrive. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, cultures, and communities, and actively encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.

Safeguarding and DBS

* Roles involving regulated activity are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the appropriate level, in line with the DBS Code of Practice.
* The University will ensure that anyone subject to a barring order does not undertake any work with the barred group (children and/or adults).
* All employees, volunteers, and partners are expected to share our commitment to safeguarding.

Rehabilitation of Ex‑Offenders

The University will not discriminate against applicants who make a disclosure relating to a conviction. Disclosures at application stage are only visible to the DBS team, not to hiring panels. This ensures fairness and removes bias from the shortlisting process.
