Our client is a leading provider of a wide range of engineering solutions to a prestigious global client base.
An exciting opportunity for a Controls Engineer has arisen within the Controls Engineering and R&D team.
They are seeking a skilled controls engineer to specify, implement and commission control system hardware and software for our company's range of handling manipulators, grinders, and robots. The successful candidate will have a varied role and will be responsible for overseeing projects from the initial specification of componentry through to installation and commissioning at the customers site.
The responsibilities of this role will include:
The design and development of control systems for new and existing products and processes.
To configure, program, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other control components to meet customer requirements.
Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure control systems are integrated with other subsystems.
Conduct testing and verification to ensure control systems meet performance and safety requirements.
The development and maintenance of documentation, including specifications, schematics, and operating manuals.
Providing technical support and troubleshooting for control systems during production and post-production.
To travel to customer sites worldwide for installation and service visits typically around 10 weeks per year in total.
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
HND or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in control system design and implementation.
Strong knowledge of control theory, control algorithms, and feedback systems.
Experience with PLC programming and HMI design. Ideally using Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell Studio 5000.
Familiarity with functional safety standards and regulations, such as ISO 13849
Good mathematical literacy, problem-solving and communication skills.
Willingness to travel, interface directly with customers and to commission and troubleshoot machinery in harsh environments.
It would also be a distinct advantage to have knowledge in the following:
Previous experience of electrical CAD software (ePlan preferred)
An understanding of analogue electronic circuits and components
Experience of Hydraulic systems and components
