A leading international law firm is looking for an In-House Lawyer (Conflicts) to join their Risk & Compliance team in London. This role includes a working pattern that incorporates Saturday and Sunday each week, with flexibility to consider candidates looking for either a four or five-day schedule.
This In-House Lawyer (Conflicts) position role gives a high level of autonomy, with responsibility for assessing complex matters, recommending outcomes, and contributing to strategic projects that influence the firm's overall approach to risk and regulation.
Key Responsibilities for the In-House Lawyer (Conflicts):
* Providing guidance to business intake analysts and escalating matters as appropriate to senior stakeholders.
* Advising on and resolving a range of issues linked to client and matter intake, including: conflicts of interest (legal, commercial, and business), confidentiality, client engagement terms, reputational risk, and AML/KYC considerations.
* Reviewing and advising on engagement letters, client terms, and pitch documentation.
* Assisting with the implementation and oversight of ethical walls and information barrier procedures.
* Responding to queries on business acceptance and matter opening processes, ensuring clear and timely communication with colleagues across global offices.
* Drafting and maintaining precedents, policies, and internal guidance to support the business acceptance process.
* Assisting in the supervision and development of analysts within the team, supporting their technical expertise and professional growth.
* Supporting the design, roll-out, and monitoring of key policies and processes relating to client acceptance, conflicts, information barriers, and confidentiality management.
* Keeping up to date with professional rules, legislation, and regulatory developments to ensure the firm's policies and procedures remain compliant and effective.
* Delivering and contributing to internal training on business acceptance, conflicts, and regulatory compliance.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified lawyer with solid experience in conflicts of interest and risk management within a law firm environment.
* Strong technical knowledge of regulatory frameworks.
* Commercial mindset and ability to balance risk management with practical business needs.
* Interest in mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
