Overview
Regulatory Officer 1 – Producer Compliance Team for Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging Regulations – 31831. The Combined Packaging Regime is looking for enthusiastic and proactive individuals to deliver regulatory and environmental outcomes. The role involves working on the Extended Producer Responsibility Regulations for Packaging Producers, analysing large data sets to ensure compliance by Producers, including desktop monitoring, audits and taking appropriate action to bring producers into compliance. The team sits within Waste Markets and Shipments and works to regulate areas including Packaging, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Batteries and International Waste Shipments. The department emphasises health, safety, wellbeing and development, and contributes to the circular economy by providing regulation to reduce packaging waste and protect the environment."

Responsibilities
* Analyse and manage large data sets to ensure compliance under Extended Producer Responsibility Regulations for Packaging Producers; include desktop monitoring, audits and taking action to bring producers into compliance.
* Undertake regulatory work under the direction of a Senior Technical Officer, identifying non-compliant producers, scrutinising evidence and rectifying data anomalies; maintain excellent data and information management skills.
* Coordinate and deliver processes, providing support, coaching and guidance to colleagues to ensure compliance with statutory and internal deadlines.
* Communicate regularly with internal and external customers and answer technical queries.
* Collate, analyse and use complex data to inform evidence-based regulatory decisions.
* Respond to incidents as part of business continuity; be available to respond to incidents when required.
Experience / Skills Required
* Excellent data management: coordinating collection, assessment and analysis of large complex data sets, ensuring accuracy and appropriate data storage.
* Strong communication: able to present facts verbally and in writing, and provide technical guidance in accessible formats.
* Ability to deliver training and coaching.
* Excellent time management, organisation and planning to manage multiple activities with varying deadlines.
* Experience in supporting and influencing others to deliver in priority order.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Team player with ability to support colleagues in solving complex issues and delivering outcomes.
* Competence with Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams.
* Experience of working with customers and colleagues to achieve regulatory compliance is desirable but not essential.
* Experience of working within Waste Regulation is desirable but not essential.
