Overview

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates as they are under‑represented within the Trust. The role is a full‑time Cardiology Interventional Fellow for 16 months at the Bristol Heart Institute, the regional centre for the South West. The unit has one of the largest volume and highest quality complex PCI programmes in the UK and is recognised for excellence in intravascular imaging (both OCT and IVUS), delivered by national and internationally regarded trainers.


Responsibilities

* Perform around 200–300 first‑operator PCI cases per year and develop high‑level skills in adjunctive PCI tools such as IVUS, OCT, rotational atherectomy, lithoplasty and CTO PCI (AWE, ADR and retrograde).
* Identify and enroll appropriate patients for active interventional research studies, initiate and develop research streams, and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals.
* Deliver a minimum of one clinic a week and independently manage the timetable alongside colleagues in the department.
* Develop an AV database of interventional cases, editing and archiving using the Medinbox AV system.
* Participate in the coordination and running of the heart team meetings and weekly educational meetings.
* May have an on‑call commitment at a 1 in 12 frequency if required by the department; if not required, optional and ad‑hoc shifts may be booked and paid at the Trust‑agreed additional payment rates.


Qualifications

* Completed or about to complete SpR interventional cardiology training.
* Strong clinical and procedural competence and willingness to acquire advanced PCI techniques.
* Demonstrated interest in research and ability to contribute to publications.
* Good communication skills and organisational ability to manage clinic schedule and teamwork.
* Fluent English to an appropriate standard (as required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016).
* Eligible to work in the UK; visa sponsorship only if eligible under the UKVI points‑based system.
