The AFC Band 3 Care Support Workers will assist and undertake an agreed range of tasks in relation to the care of a patient or group of patients and the environment in which care is delivered. The qualified Nurse/ODP is responsible for all care and supervision although tasks will be delegated to the AFC Band 3 Care Support Workers, The Day Surgery Unit is a very busy department and is expanding its services constantly. It is a dedicated unit which has three operating theatres, two recovery areas and a ward. There is also an ophthalmic department within the unit.
The department manages day case elective surgery for adults and paediatric cases. It provides a service for elective surgical specialities which include:
* General Surgery
* Gynaecology
* Urology
* ENT
* Oral/Max-Fax
* Dermatology/Plastics
* Ophthalmology
* Orthopaedics and Hand Trauma
Day Surgery encompasses the whole patient surgical journey from admission to discharge. Our goal is to provide high quality individualised care, in a timely manner, to a range of patients undergoing elective day case procedures.
