As a trusted partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, our client is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C programming skills and proficiency in PERL. In this role, youll be instrumental in developing and maintaining text-based templates that underpin Technical Publications authoring and publishing. Prior knowledge of the Technical Publications process is advantageous but not essential we value flexibility and a proactive approach to learning.
Youll also have the opportunity to design and enhance applications and reporting tools across a range of technologies, including C#, SQL, Java, and PowerShell. Key Responsibilities:
Code technical publication stylesheets using PERL language
Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information
Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality
Analysing, planning, and defining data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data
Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions
Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements
Optimize new and current database systems
Define security and backup procedures
Collaborating with other teams within the organisation to devise and implement data strategies, build models, and assess shareholder needs and goals
Provide operational support for Management Information Systems
What do you need?:
Strong proficiency in PERL programming is essential.
Advanced knowledge of SQL and C# for database and application development.
Experience with data visualisation tools and techniques is highly desirable.
High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis.
Hands-on experience in data modelling, metadata management, and data synthesis.
Proven ability to gather, document, and analyse complex system requirements.
Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
Demonstrated problem-solving mindset and ability to deliver innovative solutions.
