Your new role
As a Bioinformatics Lead, you will play a key role in driving the company's computational research. This is a permanent role that requires a strong on-site presence at their site in London.Responsibilities include:
* Designing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines for microbial / microbiome analysis
* Conducting statistical evaluations of microbiome datasets using R and Python
* Collaborating with biologists to interpret sequencing data
* Designing and leading bioinformatics and data science related projects
* Developing reproducible workflows for metagenomic and Amplicon-based studies
* Supporting experimental design and data collection strategies for projects
* Maintaining and improving internal databases and documentation standards
* Presenting findings to cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
You should bring a blend of technical expertise and scientific curiosity.Key qualifications include:
* An MSc or PhD (or equivalent experience) within Bioinformatics, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field
* Proven experience in bioinformatics, working with microbiome or microbial genomic data
* Proficiency in R and Python for statistical analysis and data visualisation
* Familiarity with tools such as QIIME2, DADA2, and Snakemake or Nextflow
* Strong understanding of microbial ecology and sequencing technologies - eg ONT Amplicon, Illumina, PacBio etc
* Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
* Very good communication skills for translating complex data into understandable insights
Previous experience working in a fast-paced or start-up environment is a nice to have for this role, as is exposure/familiarity with Machine Learning approaches.
