Electronic Compliance Engineer | Cambridge (Hybrid)
We are supporting a fast-growing, Cambridge-based advanced technology business as they hire an Electronic Engineer to take full ownership of electronic design and global compliance for intrinsically safe, battery-powered IIoT devices deployed into hazardous environments.
This is a technically accountable role with real ownership. You will lead hardware governance, certification delivery and compliance strategy as products scale internationally.
🔧 The Role
Own electronic product design and compliance across certified hazardous-area devices
Lead ATEX / IECEx / NRTL (UL) approvals from concept through to listing
Ensure alignment with IEC/EN/UL (phone number removed) & (phone number removed) (Intrinsic Safety)
Deliver FCC / EMC / RED and radio compliance activity
Build and maintain full technical files and controlled documentation
Manage Engineering Change Notes and support manufacturing & supply chain
Maintain audit readiness and global compliance as expansion continues
You will leverage an existing certified product portfolio while driving new approvals and design evolution.
🎯 Must Have Experience
Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
3+ years in electronic hardware design and product compliance
Strong schematic and PCB layout review capability
Hands-on FCC / EMC / radio test planning experience
Confident owning technical documentation as a safety artefact
⭐ Desirable
Delivered ATEX / IECEx / UL approvals, ideally intrinsically safe designs
Battery-powered Ex product experience
Exposure to ISO 9001 / ISO (phone number removed) audits
Knowledge of LoRaWAN or BLE coexistence
Experience with KiCAD, Cognidox, SolidWorks or similar
