About the role
Applications are being sought for a FTE ( hours per week) Technician in Archaeomaterials Analysis at the UCL Institute of Archaeology within the ERC project ‘EVERYDAYISLAM: Becoming Muslim: Cultural Change, Everyday Life and State Formation in early Islamic North Africa (-), at the Institute of Archaeology.
The primary purpose of the post is to complete the processing and analysis of archaeomaterials from excavations in Morocco and Tunisia and to write-up the results for co-authored project publications. The post-holder will work closely with Prof. Fenwick and team-members and be primarily responsible for completing analyses of metals, glass, ceramics and other materials (as needed) from North Africa, writing up the results and preparing data for archiving.
The post is available from 22 June until 31 December in the first instance.
About you
We are seeking a technician with a PhD in archaeological science, demonstrable experience of using ICP-MS, SEM, XRF and thin-section petrography to analyse various types of archaeological materials (ceramics, glass, metals) and knowledge of Roman and medieval technologies to join the project team at the UCL Institute of Archaeology.
