Granite Recruitment is currently working in partnership with is a multi-disciplinary services company who deliver a comprehensive range of engineering, construction and maintenance solutions across all phases of energy asset life cycles. Renowned for their expertise in the onshore and offshore sectors, they are now expanding their footprint to provide the same high-quality services to the power networks industry, ensuring infrastructure reliability and performance.
As a result of the above, we are now seeking a highly experienced and strategic Business Unit Director to lead our client’s expansion into the power networks sector. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of integrated services across engineering, construction, maintenance, and decommissioning, with a strong focus on power networks projects. This includes design, construction, and commissioning of electricity infrastructure to ensure reliable power distribution. Our client is open to the location of the successful applicant (must be UK based).
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the strategic development and operational management of the business unit focused on power networks services.
* Oversee power network installation projects, including underground cable laying (up to 132kV), overhead line construction, and the engineering and installation of substations and switchgear.
* Deliver integrated multi-disciplinary services that meet the evolving needs of power network clients.
* Build and nurture client relationships within the power networks industry to secure new business and strengthen partnerships.
* Ensure seamless coordination across engineering, construction, maintenance, and decommissioning teams to optimize project delivery.
* Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all operations.
* Manage budgets, forecasts, and resource planning to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.
* Collaborate with other business units and senior leadership to leverage company-wide expertise and capabilities.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Extensive leadership experience in multi-disciplinary services within the energy sector, with proven expertise overseeing power networks projects.
* Strong knowledge of the design, construction, and commissioning of electricity infrastructure, including underground cable laying (up to 132kV), overhead line construction, and substation and switchgear installation.
* Proven ability to manage complex projects and diverse teams across multiple service phases.
* Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
* Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is preferred
