Personal Assistant / Support Worker Needed – Weekend & School Holiday Hours We are seeking a kind, energetic and reliable Personal Assistant to support a happy 14‑year‑old young man with autism who is deaf and uses gestures/BSL and a VOCA to communicate. He enjoys swimming and water-based activities, travelling on public transport (especially trains), and accessing community activities to build appropriate social interactions.
Hours:
* Term time: 5 hours per week on one weekend day (single 5‑hour block)
* School holidays (excluding summer): 10 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days
* Summer holidays: 15 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days
The role includes:
* Support accessing community and leisure activities
* Making outings fun, engaging and safe
* Providing personal care, including support with incontinence
* Encouraging independence and social interaction at an appropriate level
About you:
* Have life experience and good risk/safety awareness
* Essential experience supporting children with autism
* Experience with deaf or non‑verbal children is advantageous but not required
* Physically able to support active outings such as swimming
* Patient, caring and confident
* No driver required
An Enhanced DBS and references will be necessary. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys being active and making a positive difference in a young person’s life.
