An overview of the role
The Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) is directly responsible for the supervision of the temporary works installation, maintenance and dismantling.
Co-operate with the Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC).
Ensure that safe systems of work are communicated and followed.
Carry out inspections and checks on the temporary works, including:
During erection
Before it is brought into use
Periodically during use
When there are additional requirements to maintain stability during its use
As identified on checklists
As directed by the TWC
Obtain and use checklists to aid inspection (where available).
Record the results of inspections and ensure that any defects or omissions are corrected.
The TWS will inform the TWC:
When TW which require a Permit to Load or have to be signed off by the TWC are ready for inspection.
If there are any areas of inspection which they feel un-qualified to inspect.
Where ground conditions, general site conditions, loadings etc are outside the TW design assumptions.
Where any changes from the agreed drawings, design or method statements are required, and, or have been made without the TWC authorisation.
Any concerns they may have regarding the TW.
Attend Weekly Temporary Works meetings with PC TWC's and other TWS's
