Supervising Social Worker – Connected People’s TeamLocation: The Portal, Ellesmere PortOrganisation: Cheshire West and Chester CouncilContract: Full TimeWe are currently working with Cheshire West and Chester Council who are seeking a committed, resilient and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their Connected People’s Team based at The Portal in Ellesmere Port. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting children and families by working with family members and connected carers who are seeking to care for children known to them. The Connected People’s Team undertakes important work assessing and supporting family and friends carers, including those applying for Special Guardianship Orders, ensuring that children can remain within their wider family network wherever possible. The Role As a Supervising Social Worker, you will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children across Cheshire West and Chester by delivering a high-quality service that keeps children’s safety and wellbeing at the centre of practice. The role will involve:
* Completing detailed and robust connected person and Special Guardianship assessments.
* Providing ongoing support and guidance to family and friends carers.
* Working closely with children, families, and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children.
* Contributing to court-directed work, including preparation of reports and assessments within care proceedings.
* Developing a strong understanding of court processes, permanence planning, and legal frameworks.
* Managing a caseload and ensuring assessments are completed within required timescales.
* Travelling to complete assessments, which may occasionally include out-of-county visits and overnight stays.
About You To be successful in this role, you will:
* Be a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
* Have experience within fostering, connected persons, or children’s social care. - minimum 3 years perm post qualification in a Local Authority
* Possess a strong understanding of court processes, care proceedings, and permanence options for children.
* Be able to produce high-quality assessments and reports.
* Demonstrate resilience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel as required.
