Based in Southwest England (Portsmouth, Southampton, Plymouth, Exeter, Truro)
We are looking for a Loss Prevention Investigator to join our team at Waterstones in Southwest England. Your role will include protecting staff, customers, property, and the business by maintaining security equipment, investigating incidents, and advising teams on incident response. You will implement the Loss Prevention strategy as outlined by the Group Loss Prevention Manager.
Responsibilities include:
* Working as a field-based security and shrink expert to identify risks and reduce losses.
* Providing advice on Loss Prevention to Regional Managers, Store Managers, and staff.
* Visiting stores in your area based on risk assessments.
* Reducing shrinkage and cash loss through risk identification, solutions, and coaching.
* Investigating thefts, data, and stock discrepancies to apprehend offenders and build criminal cases.
* Using data and security systems to analyze trends and collaborate with the wider team.
* Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to reduce risks.
* Ensuring compliance and safety standards with Maintenance and Audit teams.
* Completing tasks within deadlines and escalating issues appropriately.
* Supporting additional projects as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager.
Requirements:
* Experience in shrink and crime resolution in retail or policing environments.
* Knowledge of loss prevention policies, case building, and the criminal justice system.
* IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and security software.
* Knowledge of investigation and interview techniques (PACE, WZ etc).
* Full UK driving license.
