We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Band 4 Macmillan Information Support Worker to join our team at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital Macmillan Hub.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to provide essential support to patients and their families. The information hub is a source for information for patients with a new or known cancer diagnosis and also offers signposting and support with phycological, social and financial support.
The Macmillan Information and Support Service is a core part of the Trust’s Cancer Services and provide a strategic approach to the delivery of cancer information within Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
The Macmillan Hub is proactive in supporting look good feel better, support groups to improve patient experience of care as required
As part of your role, you will work with and oversee volunteers within trust that support this area, ensuring smooth and effective service delivery.
Main duties of the job
Macmillan Hub is operational Monday to Friday 0900-1700. The role will require cross cover of service at Maidstone Macmillan Hub and Macmillan POD at Tunbridge Wells site as required
The main duties consist of providing individualised information and support to clients verbally, written or by phone, in a format that is appropriate to their needs.
To recognise when to seek help in meeting the information and support needs of service users and refer appropriately to the Macmillan Information and support Manager or appropriate Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist and complete direct, prompt and appropriate referral to more specialist services.
You will be responsible for ensuring the environment is conducive to confidential and supportive information giving.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
5. GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grade A-C) or equivalent
6. NVQ4 or NVQ3/ diploma, or equivalent experience

7. Evidence of continued role development
8. Willingness to undertake Macmillan learning and development courses
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
9. Relevant health or social care experience at Agenda for change Band 3 or equivalent
10. Experience of multi-professional working
11. Experience in the use of data entry and management
12. Understanding of the health and social care environment
Desirable criteria
13. Experience in coordinating a designated workload
14. Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK
15. Knowledge of relevant cancer treatment, interventions and terminology
