Financial Analyst - 36 hours

Are you a part-qualified or qualified accountant with a flair for finance business partnering and a passion for making a difference in the not-for-profit sector?

BPAS are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This is a permanent, hybrid role working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You'll work primarily from home, with travel to our Head Office once a week.

About the role

As a Financial Analyst, you'll act as a finance business partner, supporting non-finance managers to understand & manage their budgets. Your responsibilities include project monitoring, contract profitability, standard costing, & long-term financial planning.

You'll work closely with operational and senior leaders, providing insightful analysis, building trusted relationships, and offering challenge where needed. Your financial expertise will help shape decisions and drive performance.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the long-term sustainability of BPAS, work on a variety of financial projects, & grow your skills in business partnering, financial modelling, & analysis.


Main duties of the job

* Providebusiness partner support to other non-finance teams tounderstand and control their budgets and achieve their financial KPIs
* Analysevariances each month and investigate with accounts team as necessary,challenging and escalating where issues are uncovered
* Provideinsightful commentary as necessary working with managers and the finance team, identifying and explaining underlyingtrends
* Analysemonthly activity and income activity by contract, service, and location tounderstand price and volume variances
* Managethe tracking of business cases from authorisation to implementation ofprojects
* Liaisewith business case managers so they are able to maintain good financialcontrol of project budgets, in particular for new premises and for majorIT projects
* Supportbudget and forecast coordination by liaising with managers,collating information for and from budget meetings and helping to producevariance analysis for review papers
* Workwith staff in other head office teams to develop financial reporting usinginformation from different data sources

About you

You'll be a part-qualified or qualified accountant with a proactive, collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Advanced Excel skills are essential, and experience with Power BI or financial modelling is an advantage. Whatever your background non-profit, public, or commercial your ability to influence and add value will set you apart.

Location: Hybrid working with the expectationof travel to our Head Office once per week. Potential to have to travel more for training in the first few weeks.

Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Hours of Work:

* Monday to Thursday | 09:00 - 17:00
* Friday | 09:00 - 15:30

Salary: £43,768 to £47,775 per annum - Depending on skills and experience

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience of working within finance departments and with non finance staff
* Experience of working with different finance and data systems
* Experience of working within the not-for-profit sector


General

Qualifications

* Part Qualified or Fully accountant - preferably with CIMA (please specify)
* Further education in STEM subject


Knowledge and Skills

* Understanding of financial accounting principles
* Use of KPI metrics to drive an organisations performance
* Good Excel skills (e.g. pivots, SUMIFs etc.) including experience of modelling
* Good communicator with ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation about numbers and to present figures visually
* Power BI experience
