A forward-thinking public sector organisation is seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the development and delivery of a best-in-class safety culture across its operations. This strategic and operational leadership role is responsible for ensuring robusternance,pliance, and continuous improvement in all aspects of health and safety management.
You will act as the organisation’s professional lead for health and safety, playing a pivotal role in supporting its long-term strategic vision. The role involves shaping policy, driving behavioural change, and enabling services to deliver safe and healthy environments for staff, service users, and the widermunity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the development and implementation of aprehensive health and safety framework, including policies, procedures, and systems
2. Provide expert advice and assurance to senior leaders on health and safety risks and mitigation strategies
3. Oversee risk assessments, audits, training programmes, andpliance reporting across all service areas
4. Manage the organisation’s Occupational Health provision and represent it in relevant regional forums
5. Lead investigations into incidents and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are taken
6. Design and deliver engaging health and safety training andmunications
7. Support managers and teams with practical guidance and coaching on health and safety matters
8. Promote a proactive safety culture aligned with organisational values
About You
We’re looking for a confident and credible leader with:
9. A recognised health and safety qualification ( NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent)
10. Proven experience of leading health and safety in aplex organisation, ideally within the public sector
11. Knowledge of CDM and Fire Safety regulations
12. Strong influencing andmunication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
13. A solution-focused mindset andmitment to continuous improvement
14. Experience in managing Occupational Health contracts and performance
15. Ability to train, coach and mentor staff to build capability and drive service excellence
