Overview

We are seeking a friendly, energetic and customer focused IT support engineer to provide first and second line help to Garner Osborne IT users. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a keen analytical mindset, enabling them to provide exceptional support to our users. As part of our IT Support team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our technology functions smoothly and efficiently.

Duties

* Providing first & second line support of IT hardware and software related issues to users, both in-house and externally
* Day to day administration of internal systems, including user accounts, email accounts & filters, user access, fileservers, remote access, printing, and WIFI access
* Working with IT team members to triage support tickets.
* Over-the-Phone, Email and Desk-side support and instruction
* Providing occasional first line support to visitors
* Providing resources to on-site customers and other visitors when required
* Liaising with external organisations such as suppliers and customers to troubleshoot connectivity and communication issues
* Building, Installing, configuring, and maintaining local IT hardware & software on PCs, Servers, and associated peripherals
* Providing Technical documentation for internal systems
* Providing Support documentation for users to allow them to support themselves on day to day issues
* Monitoring systems to ensure they are operating properly.
* Routine maintenance of systems, including updates and patches.
* Day to day provision and management of Network cabling, WIFI infrastructure and switch configuration
* Voice Systems Management
* Purchasing of IT related equipment for users and IT

Standard Responsibilities

* Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Garner Osborne's corporate objectives
* Observe and comply with all company policies and procedures and for Health and Safety at Work
* Be actively engaged in contributing towards an inclusive culture, creating spaces for diverse perspectives, and serving as an ally in the workplace
* Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role, including the development of others within the business.
* Support and contribute to business initiatives and objectives
* Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and to meet the changing needs of the organisation

Requirements

* Proven experience in an IT support role or similar position is preferred.
* Conversational level of verbal communication skills in English
* Good knowledge of Microsoft PC and Server operating systems and applications
* Experience of administering Microsoft cloud resources (Exchange, Entra, Azure, Intune etc)
* An understanding of networking, Active Directory, virtualisation, systems management
* Some knowledge of Linux would be useful, but not essential
* Proficient data entry skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, especially in translating jargon into plain English
* Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting technical issues effectively.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic environment.
* Strong, generic, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills with an ability to provide outside-the-box solutions
* Good research skills
