Learning Support Assistant
* Location: Rural Burgess Hill, West Sussex
* Daily Rate: Circa £120
* Job Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
* School provided free shuttle bus from Brighton
Join our specialist school as a Learning Support Assistant, dedicated to supporting students aged 11–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a calm, structured environment and is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Support students in lessons to help them access learning and stay engaged.
* Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
* Assist with lesson delivery, both in small groups and 1:1 settings.
* Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and support individual learning plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience working with children or young people, ideally those with ASD or other special educational needs.
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum and how it can be adapted for learners with additional needs.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work flexibly and creatively to meet individual student needs.
* Commitment to safeguarding and professional development.
* GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A–C or equivalent).
* Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or willingness to train).
* Understanding of safeguarding, SEN, and inclusive education.
* A clean driving licence is desirable but not essential.
