Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £12.36 per hour

About the Role
Brook Street are currently recruiting on behalf of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) for a Temporary Administrative Officer to join the Enforcement Team at North Shields Law Courts.
This is a full-time temporary public sector assignment running until December 2025, offering the opportunity to work within Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) - part of the Ministry of Justice - in a front-line administrative position.
As an Administrative Officer, you will support court and enforcement operations, interacting with members of the public, defendants, and partner organisations. The role involves handling sensitive information, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring court processes run smoothly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
General Administration and Case Management
1. Preparing papers and files for court proceedings
2. Creating, updating, and maintaining records and systems
3. Drafting routine correspondence, notes, reports, and meeting documentation
4. Photocopying, filing, post handling, and booking rooms or equipment for hearings and training sessions
Enforcement and Operational Support
5. Collection and enforcement of financial penalties
6. Conducting means interviews with defendants (primarily by phone)
7. Supporting court hearings and enforcement sessions
8. Contacting relevant parties, serving documents, and executing warrants
9. Managing fine payments and working with chip-and-pin systems
Customer Interaction
10. Responding to in-person, written, and telephone enquiries
11. Communicating with defendants, legal professionals, enforcement partners, and internal colleagues
12. Providing clear, courteous, and accurate information
Data Processing, Compliance and Quality Control
13. Handling casework including court orders, claims, fees, and fines
14. Accurately recording outcomes and maintaining compliance with procedures
15. Verifying data, checking documents and producing basic reports
16. Participating in daily team meetings, problem-solving activities, and supporting internal initiatives

19. Experienced in administration and customer service environments
20. Able to manage sensitive situations with discretion
21. Comfortable using IT systems and following structured processes
Minimum Requirements:
22. 5 GCSEs (A*-C), including English and Maths
23. OR NVQ Level II in Business Administration
24. OR equivalent relevant work experience
