DT Technician – Food Technology & Textiles

We are working with a well-resourced secondary school in Tower Hamlets seeking a DT Technician (Food Technology & Textiles) to assist both teachers and students. You’ll play a vital role in helping lessons run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
What you’ll be doing:
Food Technology Support
* Preparing ingredients and setting up cooking stations
* Managing food stock, checking expiry dates, and ensuring safe storage
* Maintaining hygiene standards across kitchens and equipment
* Supporting food safety compliance
Textiles Support
* Setting up and maintaining sewing machines and textile equipment
* Preparing fabrics, threads, and materials for lessons
* Assisting students with practical activities such as sewing and dyeing
* Organising and maintaining textile resources
General Responsibilities
* Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons
* Ensuring compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and COSHH
* Managing resources, stock control, and storage areas
* Assisting with displays, admin tasks, and day-to-day department needs
* Creating a safe, positive, and well-organised learning environment
What the school is looking for:
* A practical, hands-on individual with strong organisational skills
* Good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene procedures
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Confident communication skills with young people
* Previous school or workshop experience is desirable but not essential
