Lead the fight against Limb Loss and join us as a Vascular Woundcare Specialist Podiatrist. You will take a key leadership role in the team shaping clinical pathways, developing the service in innovative and exciting ways and engaging in award winning quality improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

Deliver clinical expertise and management of a caseload of complex patients using advanced diagnostic and excellent treatment packages

Ensure patients experience a smooth, seamless clinical pathway from start to finish.

Support and collaborate with clinical colleagues in effective case management.

Foster strong, collaborative relationships within the multidisciplinary team.

Lead clinical governance initiatives and provide training to a team of podiatrists.

Demonstrate outstanding leadership and serve as a professional ambassador for the podiatry field.

Person Specification


Education/Qualifications

* BSc Degree in Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior 1991)
* Evidence of continual professional and personal development portfolio. Post graduate courses/ Education in Advanced Podiatric Practice
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
* Certificate in local anaesthesia
* Non-medical prescriber
* Ionising Radiation (medical exposure) Regulations Training
* Training in requesting and interpretation of investigations relevant to foot complications


Experience

* Experience of working at a band 6 level or above and evidence of working with a high risk caseload
* Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working
* Experience of working in a fast paced NHS environment
* Experience of clinical supervision and mentoring
* Experience of service development
* Experience of line management
* Experience of leadership of a Vascular and or Woundcare pathway
* Practical application of The National Woundcare Strategy Programme
* Experience of PGDs
* Experience of sickness absence management


Skills and Knowledge

* Effective oral, listening and written communications in order to organise present and report information
* Good interpersonal skills of collaboration, mutual exchange and support
* Ability to deal professionally and objectively with safeguarding and distressing/uncomfortable situations, e.g. terminally ill patients, child abuse, providing guidance to team members where appropriate.
* Ability to evaluate and analyse patients concerns and needs and propose effective solutions with adaptive communication styles.
* To work and support junior staff to case manage complex care patients
* Ability to undertake sustained intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds
* Adaptable to a variety of working environments and the ability to cope with sometimes distressing settings and work tasks including wound care, neglected feet and exposure to malodour, body fluids including blood and wound exudate.
* Knowledge of audit and risk assessment
* Understand and apply principles of Clinical Governance
* Understand equality and diversity and its implications in care provision
* Ability to reflect on own practice as well as give and accept feedback.
* Progressive, forward thinking and innovative ability

£48,270 to £54,931 a yearper annum, inclusive of HCAS
