Job Title: Mechanical Inspector Location: Ballymena Hourly Rate: £16.90 per hour Hours: 37 hours per week (9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday) Duration: Temporary, Full - Time About the Role Apple Recruitment Services are delighted to be recruiting for an M&E Inspector to join a busy Project Delivery team within a large public sector organisation. This role involves providing a mechanical inspection service across natural gas and oil maintenance contracts, ensuring that installations, servicing and maintenance works are completed in line with contractual requirements, statutory regulations and quality standards. You will inspect and measure works completed at various stages throughout construction including relevant certifications updating these on the NIHE computer database and maintain detailed records. The post holder will forward a report on their findings to the M&E Project Manager/Inspectorate Manager on a weekly basis. REQUIREMENTS: Essential Qualification Criteria: (i) Candidates must have a degree or equivalent Level 6* qualification in a Building/Construction related discipline plus 1 years’ relevant experience working within a Building/Construction Function OR (ii) BTEC Higher or equivalent Level 5* qualification in a Building/Construction related discipline plus 2 years’ relevant experience working within a Building /Construction function OR (iii) Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning and at least 4 years’ relevant experience working within a Building/Construction function. 2. Can demonstrate significant experience in Mechanical Installation, Inspection and Testing 3. Proficient in the use of all Microsoft packages 4. Candidates must have:- Gas Safe: CCN1 OFTEC: 101 NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating or equivalent level 3 qualification in Plumbing or Heating 5. Can demonstrate (To be assessed at interview) : Excellent planning and organisational skills Strong interpersonal and influencing skills Strong customer orientation Candidates may also be assessed against the relevant section of the Housing Executive’s Behavioural Framework. 6. Candidates must possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full Desirable Criteria: Currently hold:- Gas Safe: CPA1, CENWAT OFTEC: 105 & 600 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To maintain a daily diary monitoring site activities. Also to present and clearly communicate to the Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager by email all inspection findings including Health and Safety and Welfare in a comprehensive electronic Weekly Report that accurately records and reflects all findings on site. Inspect the works at various stages of construction and provide electronic reports on compliance with Executive Specification and Statutory Regulations, as well as workmanship and materials Immediately advise the Contract Administrator/Project Manager of any non-compliance including Health and Safety and Welfare which requires urgent notification, action and attention; with particular reference to any dangerous Health and Safety Welfare breaches on site General measurement of works as and when necessary or requested by Project Manager Keep the Contract Administrator/Project Manager informed by Email, phone with particular reference to any variations from the proposed works, or any aspect of the works that could give rise to a Compensation Event Accompany Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager during the works Handover Process and in a timely and accurate manner complete a Weekly Report and email to Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager for action Record and file information using both mobile technology and desktop computers as required, adhering to the Organisations File Plan and IT policies Carry out any other duties relevant to the work and relevant to a TL2 Grade as required.
