Hays are looking for auditors for their client in Cambridge. Ideally, you will have recently qualified ACA/ACCA or qualified by experience, but our client is also open to considering applications from UK practice candidates who are in the final stages of studying for ICAEW/ACCA and seeking to complete their professional training. Study support will be considered, if applicable.
About the team
The Corporate Services team provides a wide range of audit and assurance services including audits of Limited companies (UK GAAP and IFRS), LLPs, solicitor accounts, charity and Not-for-Profit accounts, Pension scheme accounts, ABTA/ATOL return audits, and FCA Client Money audits.
The team’s client portfolio includes businesses across the spectrum, from small companies to groups with turnovers of several hundred million pounds, including OMBs, subsidiaries of larger international groups, charities, pension schemes, and LLPs. The firm works with significant businesses in East Anglia and beyond, offering exposure to a broad and varied portfolio of work.
The role
This diverse role offers scope to develop your accounting skills and external profile. You will participate in all stages of an audit, from planning to fieldwork and finalisation, under the supervision of the Corporate Services Manager and Partners. You will oversee client engagement teams, manage multiple engagements, and take a lead on client contact. While primarily focused on audit work, you will also support clients with accounts preparation and corporation tax matters.
Responsibilities include:
* Overseeing daily client engagement activities; mentoring team members
* Leading audit assignments to produce high-quality audit files
* Reviewing work and providing feedback to team members
* Communicating with clients about engagement progress, issues, and financial information
* Building and maintaining client relationships
* Monitoring engagement profitability, including billings and collections
Skills and Experience required:
* ICAEW/ACCA qualified or part-qualified, with recent UK practice experience
* Experience in planning and leading audits
* Strong technical knowledge of audit standards (e.g., FRS102, UK GAAP)
