Job Title: Compliance Engineer Manager

We’re seeking a Compliance Engineer Manager to lead maintenance strategy, drive compliance programs, and ensure safety across one of the UK’s largest and most advanced automated logistics facilities.
Role Overview:
As Compliance Engineer Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering a robust compliance and maintenance program across a 1,000,000+ sq. ft. automated site operating 24/7. You’ll ensure all engineering systems—spanning miniloads, shuttles, sorters, conveyors, and more—adhere to UK legislation, safety standards, and performance benchmarks.
This is a pivotal role, working closely with suppliers, the engineering team, and operational leads to protect uptime, minimise risk, and foster a safety-first culture.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Define and lead the maintenance, upgrade, and renewal strategy for automated systems to optimise performance, availability, and safety.
* Develop and manage the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program in line with manufacturer recommendations.
* Act as the technical authority on site equipment, continuously improving processes and minimising downtime.
* Ensure compliance with UK legislation including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, Machinery Directives, and BS 7671 (18th Edition).
* Monitor engineering work orders, implement KPIs, and lead performance improvement across the team.
* Lead Health & Safety practices within the engineering team, driving standards and setting the example.
* Track and report on automation and compliance indicators such as OEE, ROI, ISO, and FEM metrics.
* Manage communication with suppliers and manufacturers on all matters related to compliance and equipment maintenance.
What You’ll Bring:
* Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in a compliance or engineering role within an automated or high-volume logistics environment.
* In-depth understanding of UK health and safety and engineering regulations.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to implement structured compliance frameworks.
* Hands-on technical knowledge of warehouse automation systems and controls.
* Proficiency in technical documentation, compliance audits, and reporting.
* Confident, proactive, and capable of leading cross-functional teams and influencing at all levels.
