Job Description
The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of Grades K-5 Behavior Day Treatment Teacher at Guy E. Rowe Elementary School.
Guy E. Rowe is a community school located in the heart of Norway. We seek educators who work collaboratively on shared goals.
Candidates must be at least conditionally certified (282) Special Education in Maine.
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Schedule: 180 days contract
Compensation & Benefits
MSAD #17 offers a robust employee benefits package for full-time employees, including health insurance with 80% of the premium paid by the employer (with up to 100% if both spouses work in the district); dental, vision, Group Life Insurance; flexible spending and dependent care accounts; Maine Public Employee Pension, 403(b) retirement plan eligibility; 15 paid sick days per year; and tuition reimbursement.
*In addition to the base salaries above, Special Education positions receive the following annual supplemental stipends:
* Day Treatment Teachers - $4,500
* Functional Life Skills Teachers - $4,400
* Social Skills Teachers - $3,400
* Resource Room Teachers - $2,000
* Social Workers - $4,450

Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively on shared goals with educators.
* Deliver day treatment services to K-5 students with special needs.
* Model a strong work ethic, perseverance, grit, responsibility, and respect.
* Utilize best practices for motivating students in a safe, supportive learning environment.
* Develop real‑world learning experiences and community partnerships for student extensions, applied learning, service, and citizenship.
* Collaborate with colleagues, parents and the public.
* Instill problem‑solving and critical thinking as new basics across grade levels.
* Deliver strong literacy instruction across content areas.
* Help students develop skills to apply, interpret, analyze, and evaluate information.
* Employ effective lesson design adjusting to students’ personal learning needs and preferences, including appropriate technology applications.
Qualifications
* Conditional certification (282) Special Education in Maine.
* Experience working with K-5 students in a special education setting.
* Strong instructional skills and ability to design individualized educational plans.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Commitment to district’s mission and strategic pillars.
