Here within the Anglian Water @one Alliance, we are a collaborative organisation comprising seven partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) and our extended supply chain, working together to deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
We are preparing for our most ambitious Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP8, which will involve delivering a larger programme of work than ever before. This includes a focus on nature-based solutions such as wetlands and urban drainage schemes.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Environment and Sustainability Manager to lead our environmental and sustainability initiatives within the @One Alliance.
What will you do as our Environment and Sustainability Manager?
You will oversee environmental compliance, promote sustainable practices across projects, and ensure adherence to environmental legislation and best practices. You will manage a team of Environment and Sustainability Advisors and collaborate with various teams to improve environmental performance. This role offers a tangible opportunity to impact our projects and sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Support: Provide expertise on environmental issues, develop sustainable practices, and ensure compliance with the Alliance Management System (AMS).
2. AMS Management: Monitor legislation, promote best practices, and manage environmental audits and inspections.
3. Auditing: Develop and manage environmental audit schedules, including ISO 14001 audits, and provide feedback.
4. Communication: Lead team meetings and engage stakeholders to report on environmental performance.
5. Training: Develop and deliver environmental training and educational tools.
6. Performance Reporting: Collect and report environmental data, and drive continuous improvement.
Skills, Experience, and Behaviours:
Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience in environmental management within construction.
* Degree in an environmental-related field; PIEMA Membership (IEMA Chartered status) desirable.
* ISO 14001 Auditor or Auditor training.
* Experience with contaminated land, waste management, soil testing, carbon, ecology, and incident investigation.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
Skills:
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Proficiency with Visio, Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GIS.
* Organizational and negotiation skills.
* Strategic thinking and conflict resolution skills.
