JOB TITLE: Maintenance ElectricianLOCATION: HartlepoolJob Purpose:To support the Engineering team by delivering high-quality maintenance and fault resolution on a range of port assets, including harbour mobile cranes, mobile plant, and site-based electrical systems. The role involves both reactive and preventative maintenance with a focus on ensuring safety, reliability, and minimal downtime across operations.Skills, Qualifications & Experience:Time-served technical apprenticeship in a relevant electrical discipline (Essential)ONC / Level 3 qualification (minimum) – HNC/HND preferredMinimum 5 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environmentHigh-level knowledge in the following areas:Safe isolation procedures and electrical safety practicesAC/DC motors and drivetrains up to 400kWElectromechanical devices (solenoids, thrusters, actuators)Power electronics (inverters, rectifiers)Motor control methods (soft start, VSDs, resistance banks)Switching devices (relays, contactors, proximity switches, circuit breakers)12v/24v mobile plant systems and CanBus systemsBuilding and lighting electrical systemsAbility to interpret technical documentation and diagnose complex faultsStrong interpersonal skills and attention to detailPhysically capable of working at height and in varying outdoor conditionsExperience in port operations (desirable)Responsibilities:Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing faults efficientlyCarry out scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on cranes and equipmentEnsure work is completed in line with safety regulations and best practicesSupport the engineering team with planned projects and maintenance activitiesMaintain accurate records of work carried out and parts usedCollaborate with other departments to ensure effective coordination of tasksSupport continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending solutionsMaintain high standards of housekeeping in all work areasLiaise with suppliers and technical teams when needed to support maintenance effortsParticipate in safety audits and contribute to a proactive HSE cultureTo apply, call Hannah Thomson at TEXO Recruitment on 07768 735732 / 01224 446789 or email your CV to hannah.thomson@texorecruitment.co.uk
