Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Kirkby, Merseyside (site travel required)
Salary: £30,000 – £38,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and capable Health & Safety Advisor to support the ongoing development and implementation of health and safety practices across a variety of civil engineering and groundworks projects. This position reports to the Health & Safety Manager and will play a key role in helping to ensure our sites remain compliant, safe, and aligned with both company and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct audits and site inspections to ensure health and safety compliance.
* Prepare audit reports, communicate findings, and track close-out actions.
* Investigate accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents; identify trends and propose preventative measures.
* Support the H&S Manager with the implementation of company policies and procedures.
* Deliver toolbox talks and H&S communications on site.
* Provide practical, technical health and safety advice across multiple projects.
* Review risk assessments and method statements, providing guidance where required.
* Assist with project mobilisation by helping prepare H&S documentation and practical controls.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Work flexibly and autonomously across multiple sites, predominantly in North-West England and North Wales.
Requirements:
* Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a health and safety role.
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate (desirable). NEBOSH general accepted.
* CSCS card (essential).
* IOSH membership or equivalent (desirable).
* Proven experience in construction or civil engineering environments.
* Competence in risk assessments and incident investigations.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
* Organised, deadline-driven and adaptable.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office {Excel, word, PowerPoint}.
* Full UK driving licence required.
