You will be based in the Crown Court and provide support to the Jury. This is a predominantly customer facing role, which includes public speaking in a court setting. You will have regular contact with court users, including members of the Judiciary and the legal profession. Alongside your public facing duties, you will be assigned to teams to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court system or provide administrative support to other functions within HMCTS. Working as part of a flexible team, you will be expected to undertake a range of the functions and responsibilities specified.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a Jury Officer, communicating with the Judiciary, Court Managers, Court staff and stakeholders to collect information, check facts and enforce judicial decisions.
* Assist court users, support listing and rota management, and check files.
* Process and calculate Jury Expenses and respond to related enquiries.
* Collaborate with team members to problem‑solve and contribute to small projects.
* Collect and assemble information to deliver a helpful, prompt, polite and “right first time” service to all court users.
Skills & Experience
* Friendly and approachable manner with good written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email.
* Strong organisation, prioritisation and multi‑tasking abilities with adaptability to various software packages.
* Experience navigating the justice system in a busy environment.
Working Arrangements
* Base location: Crown Court (office‑based). All employees expected to spend a minimum of 60% of working time in an office.
* Standard full‑time hours: 37 hours per week (30 hours minimum for part‑time).
* MoJ offers flexible working patterns (part‑time, flexible, job‑sharing) subject to business needs and prior agreement.
* Hybrid Working arrangement available where business need allows, with a minimum of 60 % office presence.
