Applications are invited for a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery with a subspeciality interest in the management of foot and ankle trauma. The is opportunity to develop and elective foot and ankle practice including ankle arthoplasty. The on-call responsibility for this post will include participation in polytrauma cover during the week 1 in 16 and a 1 in 12 weekend. The role will cover perform orthopaedic trauma surgery with a subspeciality interest in the management of foot and ankle trauma, fracture clinics (including virtual), ward rounds, trauma operating, elective operating and other roles necessary to support the department. Elective surgery is undertaken at the SOTC which is a GIRFT accredited HVLC Hub. The appointee is expected to be committed to the improvement of quality clinical care and to participate in incident reporting, risk management and Clinical Unit Governance Meetings which are held every other month.
Main duties of the job
• Undertaking administrative duties associated with patient care. • Work and support all members of the clinical team in theatres, clinics and wards. • Day to day management of patients, liaison with trauma nurse practitioners and participation in meetings. • Undertake and be up to date with mandatory training. • Observe the rules and policies together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations. • Ensure to maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff. On Call Commitment: This includes participation in the trauma on call cover weekdays at the RSCH MTC site with off-site cover when on call and PRH NOF on call rota weekends (3% Category A ).

Essential criteria
1. •Basic medical degree
2. •FRCS Orth or its recognised equivalent.
3. •Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. • If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Orthopaedics or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. • If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
