* Duration: Permanent
* Band & Salary: 4C £43,588 - £57,464
* Role overview: You’ll be joining a small, highly skilled geotechnical engineering team within the Technical Authority. The Technical Authority provides technical leadership, supports front-line delivery, and ensures competence and assurance regimes across national and regional delivery.
What you’ll do
* Apply geotechnical expertise to improve slope safety and asset performance across rail infrastructure
* Provide technical advice and support engineering leadership; contribute to national policies, standards, and training materials
* Collaborate with regional engineers to deliver practical guidance and technical support
* Contribute to shaping geotechnical standards, engineering verifications, and exploration of innovative technologies
* Engage in research and development to translate new ideas into practical solutions
* Use data analytics to uncover trends, manage risks, and support evidence-based decisions
Essential Criteria
* HNC/HND or equivalent qualification or demonstrate equivalent experience (Level 4 / 5)
* Substantial experience in a relevant engineering area
* Sound knowledge of relevant policies and standards
* An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
