Construction Buyer for Belvin Construction Ltd
Full time - Based in Nettleham
Salary – Depending on experience.
Annual leave – 25 days per annum

We are looking for an experienced buyer to manage the procurement of all materials, ensuring timely availability on site and budget compliance. Support the maximizing of profitability of projects through maintenance of quality standard and application of cost controls, liaising closely with colleagues as required.
Role/responsibilities
* To provide and manage a cost framework, systems and resources to deliver an effective cost control and reporting service to the business.
* To obtain a suitable range of quotes and availability schedule of materials, negotiating effectively to ensure best value is obtained.
* Asist in negotiations with suppliers.
* To manage and report on budgets, costs and spend to ensure that timely decision making is enabled in managing profitability.
* To ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and quality standards at all times in purchasing decision making.
* To aid in assessing the reliability of suppliers and sub‐contractors and ensure assessment is incorporated into decision making to reduce delays.
* To deal effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials, communicating with colleagues to ensure work planning is subject to minimal disruption.
* To ensure appropriate and accurate communication is provided to the leadership team, the QS team and site management as required.
* To identify potential savings through continuous review of product range, supply chain and construction practices.
* To advise on the cost impact of supply or schedule change and variations, liaising with the Quantity Surveyors and Contracts Manager, as required
* To actively contribute to the process of negotiating rates and services, ensuring value for money, quality of supply and best rate available is met. In conjunction with Contracts Manager and Site QS agree and appoint contractors and suppliers. To observe health and safety requirements ensuring that purchasing to meet agreed specifications is enabled.
* To continually review performance against budget and effectively address any issues arising.
* To provide information as required to the Finance Department to enable full reporting, analysis and planning.
* To manage processes operations in order to reduce waste, increase productivity, maintain product quality, and support profitability.
Skills and experience
* At least 3 years experience gained in a purchasing / supply chain function within the construction sector or at least 5 years' experience in a project delivery role within the construction sector, preferably on large or complex projects.
* Strong modelling and budgeting ability with familiarity with a relevant range of software.
* Evidence of comprehensive knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems, processes and methodologies
* In depth understanding of cost control procedures.
* Experience in regular and accurate report provision focused on financial data and projected costings.
