As the Financial Controller, you will work closely with the Managing Director and department heads to provide clear financial direction and drive operational efficiency. You will manage and develop the Assistant Accountant and Credit Controller, fostering a high-performing and collaborative finance team.
key responsibilities
You will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
* Monthly management of accounts preparation and reporting.
* Manage the month end close process.
* Maintain balance sheet reconciliation.
* Review the financial performance of the company.
* Develop KPI reporting suite for the company.
* Review monthly KPI and provide corrective action.
* Manage statutory compliance, working with an external accountant to complete the accounts and tax computation.
* Prepare the annual company budget with input from head of departments.
* Review the financial performance of the company.
* Develop a financial strategy to meet the strategic business plan of the company.
* Liaise with managing director to develop long-term strategic business plan.
* Maintain and monitor the daily cashflow actual and forecast.
* Manage foreign currency purchases and forward contracts to meet to foreign supplier payments.
* Oversee the general, sales and purchase Ledgers.
* Oversee the work of the assistant accountant and credit controller.
* Develop and train the assistant accountant and credit controller, and any other finance team members
* Provide financial and technical guidance to heads of department.
* Develop and maintain sound internal and good governance systems in the company.
* Oversee customer credit risk.
* Assist with the HR internal function working closely with the HR Officer and external HR support, where appropriate.
* Prepare monthly payroll for submission to external payroll bureau.
* Manage pension and PAYE/NIC compliance payments and reporting.
* Oversee the vat return preparation for company.
* Oversee the development and implementation of new Enterprise Resource Planning business system.
* Maintain relationships with external IT provider and business system providers where required.
* Control and manage the system administration of Sage 200 and approve all business systems and file server user security and permission.
* Maintain good working relationship with external stakeholders.
* Oversee general, sales and purchase ledgers for Caroline Gardner Holding Limited and Caroline Gardner Holidays Rental Limited
* Management of statutory compliance, working with an external accountant to complete the accounts and tax computation for Caroline Gardner Holding Limited and Caroline Gardner Holidays Rental Limited.
* GCSE including accounting and or business studies.
* Diploma or degree in business or accounting
* ACCA, or ACA (would consider CIMA)
* 3+ years’ experience in similar role
* Good written and communication skills
* Strategic planning and forecasting skills
* Excellent budget planning and management skills
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
* Good leadership and management skills
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting principles and preparation
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Good problem-solving skills
* Proficient in excel and accounting software
* Excellent analytical skills
* Ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders

This is a permanent, full-time role (five days per week, 9.00am–5.30pm, 37.5 hrs per week).The start date is negotiable
