About our User Research Team: We are a team of more than 20 individual contributors, embedded into collectives (e.g., Core Banking, Business Banking) and working cross-functionally with Product Design, Product Management and Engineering. Our research organisation is led by Katherine Vaughan, Director of User Research.
What you’ll be working on
* Managing a team of user researchers across 1-3 collectives (product verticals like Payments or Wealth).
* Shaping product strategies with collective leadership to ensure teams solve the right customer problems in the right ways.
* Scaling the impact of research across the organisation and increasing visibility of key insights with actionable outcomes.
* Collaborating with the Director of Research to ensure high-impact work and autonomy where possible.
* Understanding direct reports to place them for impact, growth and happiness.
* Developing sustainable talent development within the Research team and leading forums for team input into decisions.
* Working with Research Operations and the Research Director to scale team systems and processes as we grow.
* Raising the standard of research through timely feedback, improved processes and rituals.
* Hiring brilliant, diverse User Researchers and ensuring smooth onboarding.
* Maintaining an active external presence to attract a diverse pool of candidates.
* Developing and delivering a product strategy within 1-3 critical business areas, including customer needs and market opportunities, and how we’ll differentiate and grow.
* Providing support for around 5-10 direct reports through clear development goals, timely updates and regular 1:1s.
* Collaborating with and influencing stakeholders across the organisation to gain alignment and support for the strategy.
* Working with design, product, marketing, data and engineering leadership to set the right conditions for teams to do their best work.
* Shaping development practices and progression frameworks across the wider team.
* Taking an active role in Design Leadership alongside senior leaders.
* Educating the organisation on what research can and can’t be used for.
You should apply if
* You have experience as a User Researcher in a high-growth product or technology organisation.
* You bring momentum to projects, unblock progress and focus on meaningful outcomes.
* You care about the quality of the product and the overall user experience.
* You have collaborated with Data, Product and Design teams.
* You are an experienced coach, mentor and leader with at least 5 years of experience.
* You support your team’s growth, empowerment and autonomy.
* You have managed a team of at least 3 high performers and resolved performance issues.
* You have experience teaching and coaching non-researchers about research.
* You have demonstrated experience promoting diversity and inclusion.
* You use marketing insights, quantitative research and product data to inform decision making.
The Interview Process
Our interview process involves three main stages:
* Recruiter call (30 minutes) to assess general suitability.
* Research Leadership Ways of Working (60 minutes) with a pre-interview task discussed in the interview.
* Final loop (1.5 hours) with two interviews focused on Managing teams and People, and Teamwork & Impact.
Our average process takes around 2-3 weeks, with flexibility for your availability.

This role can be based in our London office, but we’re open to distributed working within the UK with ad hoc meetings in London.
