Fixed Term 5 Years (Apprenticeship)
If you’re finishing your A-Levels or a Level 3 qualification this summer and are planning a career in Civil Engineering, our Degree Apprenticeships might be a great fit for you. Our comprehensive 5-year Apprenticeship provides a great alternative to University and includes placements in a variety of departments, giving you the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience.
What’s on offer?
Up to 5 years of placements in departments such as;
1. Highway and Infrastructure Development
Highway Design, Bridges & Structures, Highways & Traffic Management and Development Management
2. Transport Operations, Environment & Waste

The placements will give you excellent work experience, connect you to a wider range of professionals and give you a real flavour of the works we deliver. From road projects, to bridges, from flood alleviation to recycling, you’ll see how the need for projects are decided and be part of their delivery.
During your 5 years you’ll attend University to learn the skills you need to excel in your career. Alongside your studies you’ll be putting the things you’ve learnt into action and seeing how they apply to your local community. You’ll be working alongside and being supported by our experienced Engineers and Technicians. Plus, you'll have access to a personal mentor to help guide your progression.
What qualifications will I get?
In addition to earning a Civil Engineering degree, you'll also have the opportunity to apply to become an Incorporated Engineer with the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE).
